One day in 2012, after three weeks in the UK, I took a short trip to Turin, Italy!
With only one night in the city, dinner was a priority. Since it was Sunday, many restaurants were closed, so I asked for a recommendation at the hotel reception. The staff member immediately suggested “Airone,” a restaurant conveniently located just down the street.
I arrived at Airone around 8 o’clock, greeted with warm “Bonasera!” as I entered. I ordered Vongole (clam pasta) and grilled swordfish with salad. The Vongole was a revelation, the pasta firm and flavorful compared to the mushy versions I’d had in the UK. The grilled swordfish was simple yet delicious, and the waiter brought balsamic vinegar and olive oil for the salad, a thoughtful touch.
The meal, paired with a glass of house wine, felt incredibly satisfying. Afterward, I asked for coffee, and a perfect espresso appeared. It was a truly delightful dining experience.
